The Perini Navi Group is ready to begin the fourth edition of the regatta that aficionados most eagerly await: the Perini Navi Cup. The competition, open only to yachts from the Perini Navi fleet, will take place against the wonderful backdrop of Porto Cervo, Sardinia.

The 2011 edition of the Perini Navi Cup will see 20 yachts participating in three days of races to win the Cup, the Perini Navi Trophy that in the past has been won by the 40mt ketch Principessa Vaivia and by the 88 meter clipper The Maltese Falcon.

The fleet gathering for the occasion in the waters of Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda will range from the 25 meter sloop Elettra to the 88 meter clipper The Maltese Falcon. Some of the Perini Navi Group’s most recently launched yachts, including the 56 meter ketch Fidelis, will also be present. The ORC rating system will be used and the regatta will be run by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda staff who, since 2009, counts the Perini Navi Cup amongst their most important events.

With a fleet of 51 yachts on the water- 50 sailing yachts and one motor yacht- the Perini Navi Group is a leader in the design and construction of large sailing yachts. In 2007 the Group also began to build motor yachts with the brand name Picchiotti and the series name Vitruvius, thus re-launching the historic Picchiotti shipyard acquired in the early 1990’s. The Group is made up of the Perini Navi shipyard in Viareggio, founded in the 1980’s by Fabio Perini who invented and developed a revolutionary automatic sail control system.

Another division of the Group is the Picchiotti shipyard in La Spezia where the Group constructs its motor yachts and concentrates most of it refitting work, and the Perini Istanbul shipyard in Yildiz, Turkey where its hulls and deck structures are produced. Perini Navi USA is a commercial division of the Group through whom owners of Perini Navi Group yachts can arrange charters and which also provides brokerage services for both new and previously owned Perini Navi Group yachts.
