Double Gold Medal wins awarded to Kininvie at World Whisky Masters 2014

The Kininvie 23 Years Old and 17 Years Old have both won Gold medals in the Super Premium Scotch Single Malt category of the World Whisky Masters. These exceptional releases came from the Kininvie Distillery which was opened in 1990 by Janet Sheed Roberts, William Grant’s granddaughter. For the last 23 years, production at the distillery has focused solely on blending and no products were released under the Kininvie name until 2013 when a very limited edition Batch Number One launched exclusively in Taiwan.

Kininvie whisky exhibits a rich, fruity, floral aroma and taste – the characteristics of a classic Speyside. The Kininvie 23 Years Old and 17 Years Old are the result of carefully maturing and marrying the product in hogsheads and sherry butts.

Kevin Abrook, Global Whisky Specialist for William Grant & Sons’ Innovation portfolio comments, “As a family owned company, we have the luxury of time and we are delighted that the Kininvie liquid has come of age and being enjoyed by whisky lovers. It’s great that it is being so well received and has been awarded such [a] prestigious award.”

The Spirits Business stages the World Whisky Masters to discover and reward the finest brands on the world stage. Launched in 2008, the competition is presided over by a panel of entirely independent judges and has become one of the most respected and high profile blind tasting spirits competitions in the industry.
