Echo Yachts reveal world’s biggest tri-hulled yacht measuring 84 metres

Echo Yachts has released the first renderings of the 84 metre trimaran yacht under construction at the yard, revealing the biggest superyacht ever built in Australia and the largest tri-hulled superyacht in the world.

The yard, based in Henderson, Western Australia, also has a 46 metre catamaran support vessel under construction for the same highly experienced owner. The yard says work on the two projects is progressing well and on schedule for a 2017 delivery.

The world’s largest trimaran has been designed by Sam Sorgiovanni and will offer huge interior volumes to cater for 12 guests.

The 46 metre shadow vessel is a catamaran design that will be used as a support craft for the 84 metre superyacht. Built in fibreglass with cutting edge vacuum infusion processes and high tech laminates, the catamaran has been designed by LOMOcean in New Zealand to house a fleet of 11 watercraft including a 12 metre catamaran. An impressive strength to weight ratio will see the support catamaran able to cruise in a wide range of sea states while offering excellent fuel efficiency.

To ensure an efficient construction process, Echo Yachts invested a large amount of design and engineering work into the project prior to build work commencing. Focusing on R&D and harnessing innovation is a core goal of the yard, it says, and the two projects mark the start of a long-term market strategy. Echo Yachts will specialise in large, custom projects and on completion of the 46 metre, in the first quarter of 2016, the yard will have a build slot available for a superyacht of 80 metres or more.

The yard management team of Mark Stothard, Jurien van Rongen and Nick Gardiner believe the attractive exchange rate on the Australian dollar and Echo Yacht’s offering of a high-quality, no fuss build will attract owners from around the world to their Henderson-based operation. The site can build in aluminium, steel, composite or a combination of materials.
