Gosset Champagne available in Croatia

Gosset, founded in 1584, is one of the oldest champagne houses of the Champagne region in north-eastern France. It was founded when Jean Gosset, a grape grower in Aÿ, left a vineyard to Pierre Gosset who began to export wine under his name. Typical for this era in Champagne, Gosset initially produced still wines, mainly reds. Today’s Gosset incorporates a winery in Aÿ which belonged to King Francis I of France, who enjoyed these red Aÿ wines.

In 1994, the house was sold to the Cointreau family. Under the management of Beatrice Cointreau, (also the head of Cognac Frapin), Gosset succeeded in increasing its production to one million bottles in 2005. The house is now successfully headed by Jean-Pierre Cointreau.

Gosset wines are made from a blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier. The house is known for its slightly sweet Brut Excellence and its vintage prestige cuvee Célebris and Grand Millésime. The house also produced a commemorative wine the Quatrième Centenaire.

The Gossett charter of excellence, recognised for centuries, is the origin of the prestige and the distinction of GOSSET champagne across the world. With this charter, GOSSET undertakes to respect the fundamental values and traditions of perfection:

Charter of excellence

  • The harvest promised to Gosset is perfectly healthy and hand picked. It comprises the only three grape varieties authorised in Champagne, with a majority proportion of Pinot Noir.
  • Only the first pressings are used in making Gosset champagne.
  • The first fermentation is never followed by a malolactic fermentation, which ensures Gosset champagne can be kept for longer.
  • Gosset wines use the best villages of the Marne region (Grands Crus and Premiers Crus) with a level that is a classification of 95% on the official Cru scale.
  • Hand riddling is still used by GOSSET and preceeds traditional disgorgement (removal of sediment).
  • Before being shipped out, Gosset champagne remains in the calm and fresh atmosphere of Gosset cellars for an extended period.
