Krispy Kreme unveils world’s most expensive donut

This is not your average sweet confectionary with glazed icing or sugar on top. The world’s most expensive donut comes with royalty of gilded leaves, gold dusted Belgian chocolate flower and edible diamonds, all for a good cause. Krispy Kreme unveiled the world’s most expensive donut at Selfridges department store in UK worth £1,000 (or around $1,682). The confection was created to mark National Donut Week — a fundraising effort benefitting the UK Children’s Trust charity.

The donut took three days to assemble and includes indulgent ingredients like a Dom Pérignon vintage 2002 champagne jelly with a raspberry and Chateau d’Yquem crème. Finished with a passion fruit glaze, the donut is gilded with edible 24ct gold leaf and adorned with a hand made 23ct gold dusted Belgian white chocolate lotus flower, blossoms, ivy, butterflies and edible diamonds.

The donut rests on top of a decadent Krispy Kreme Cocktail, made from raspberry and passion fruit syrup, 500-year-old Courvoisier de L’Esprit Cognac and topped with 2002 Dom Pérignon champagne.
